I am an architect, urban planner, and historian with a multidisciplinary background. I graduated from the École Nationale Supérieure d’Architecture de Paris-La Villette and the Institut d’Urbanisme de Paris, and I hold a degree in political science from the University of Teramo and a PhD in history from the Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB).

As a member of various associations including Association de Sauvegarde de la Médina (ASM) of Tunis, Associazione per gli Studi Africani in Italia (ASAI), Società italiana di storia internazionale (SiSi) and the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS), I am deeply committed to reconciling heritage conservation with contemporary urban challenges and Academic Research.

My research explores the intersections of urban history, architectural history, and the history of mobility between Europe and the Muslim worlds, with a particular emphasis on minorities and Mixedness in the Red Sea and Mediterranean regions. 

Formerly a fellow at the École Française de Rome and a recipient of the Stipendium Academia Belgicae in Rome, I have contributed to projects examining the urban fabric of Red Sea and Mediterranean cities. My recent work investigates the habitus of European consuls stationed in Ottoman North Africa, as well as the urban history of the Medina of Tunis.

Since March 2025, I have been an Assegnista di Ricerca (Research Fellow) within the ERC CoG 2023 Project REDMIX "Unpacking Mixedness for an Inclusive History of the Red Sea, 1800s–2000s", hosted by the Department of Historical Studies at the University of Turin. I also teach at the Ferdinando Rossi School of Advanced Studies in the same university. My current research focuses on mixedness in Red Sea cities, particularly in Yemen, the Hijaz, and Djibouti, where I explore urban mixity through the spatial anchoring of diasporas and minorities in Ottoman port cities.
